Cue the synth intro music, find some Christmas lights and let’s find Will. It may come as no surprise, but I friggin’ love me some Stranger Things on Netflix…. and pretty sure, I’ve already watched the entire season through about five times. WHAT?! It’s awesome.
With that being said, I knew that I wanted to do some Stranger Things-inspired Halloween tutorials this year AAAANNNNNDDDD people always tell me that I look like Winona Ryder, so, what the hell, let’s me just do the thing and VOILA! Joyce Byers Cosplay / Halloween Tutorial just for you, my dah’lings!
This tutorial is easy to throw together if you are stuck last minute for a Halloween costume. She wears two outfits, and they’re both easy to find at a thrift store or, in my case, closet. Add to that a shaggy brown wig… and there ya go. Wanna be schmancy? Find a prop axe or grab some warm-toned clear Christmas lights.
The majority of this tutorial is just contour and shape my face to look more like her’s… which is pretty easy. I highly suggest picking up some alcohol-activated paints because they make life SO MUCH EASIER when it comes to realistic cosplay and cinematic looks. Joyce’s character isn’t fancy, doesn’t take care of herself, and looks a bit disheveled. This all works in my favor mostly because I have glorious eyebags and look tired all the time, thanks to being a Spoonie. Haha.
