… well, come on feet.
This summer has been crazy. We’ve had visits from Oklahoma friends and some of Mr. Chaos’ family, trips to central Pennsylvania to see some of my extended family, a road trip to Oklahoma for Mr. Chaos’ brother’s wedding, catching a BalletX Premiere, participating in some makeup masterclasses, various house projects, gardening adventures, bouts of the Crud, and the usual Spoonie stuff.
It feels as if I’ve been going and going and going… without having the ability to truly rest. It doesn’t help that I am bless-cursed with a restless brain and the inherent need to do all the things otherwise I feel like I’m being lazy. It’s dumb, I know. I’m working on it.
This past week was an adventure that I didn’t mind going all out for…
My little brother came to visit, and so I was appointed to show him the sites and sounds of good ‘ole Philadelphia. I’m apparently a decent tour guide because this is the THIRD time this summer where I’ve had to be in charge of showing folks all the things.
It was cool to hang out with him since I haven’t seen him in almost a year and plus we did most of the touristy stuff. The last day he was here visiting we literally just chilled on the couch and watched episodes of Rick and Morty and Robot Chicken. It was AWESOME and totally brought me back to when we were younger and would watch cartoons on Saturday mornings.
My goal was to convince him to move out of Tayhaus and move to cultured civilization… tee hee. I think I did a decent job if I do say so myself – but Philly makes it easy.
In four days we walked a little over 30 miles, and thankfully the weather had laid off the heat for a bit so I wouldn’t be dead of heat stroke or drowned. We explored the Museum of Art, Old City including everything around the Liberty Bell and National Constitution Center, Victory Brewing Company, Reading Terminal Market (to get a Carmen’s Cheesesteak Sandwich), Liberty One Tower, Center City, and we even went to revisit an old childhood favorite, Knobels Amusement Park… and to see our Grammy. I didn’t want to show him ALL the cool places, that way we would have something to do when he visits again.
Philadelphia is an awesome city… but there is SO MUCH to see and do. Mr. Chaos and I will have lived here for a year come September, and we still haven’t done all the touristy stuff. If you are in Philadelphia or have done the touristy stuff, what are your favorite sites of the city? What should we check out? Let me know in the comments.
Oh, and I took a selfie with Rocky last week and (kind of) ran up the MOA steps. Am I a Philadelphian yet?
AAAAAADDDDDRRRRRRIIIIIIIAAAAAANNNNNNNNNNN!
Needless to say, after my brother vacated the premises to go back to Texas – I collapsed and have been putting any remaining energy, spoons, and or brain cells towards a super secret project that will debut this Fall. I hate being that blogger, but whatevs’ this is my domain… mwah ha ha ha ha.
—– REVERSE RAMONA MAKEUP LOOK—–
For the pretty portion of today’s random blog, let’s talk about this makeup-thingy that I slathered on my face the other day. First, I want to know if you know who Ramona Flowers is. Do you? Do you think she’s awesome? I do. She is on my Cosplays To Create List. I have a whole Amazon wish list for props, hair options, and clothes just waiting for the day where I’m ready to complete and showcase it.
I bought a wig last Spring from Penny Dreads and Wigs, and it’s just been sitting in my multi-colored wig bin waiting for it’s day to shine. I came across it and was like YES, TODAY IS THE DAY FOR YOU! The wig that I’m wearing is named Vilana, and she is gorgeous! It’s duo-toned asymmetrical bob with teal on the bottom layers and a medium-warm brown section right on the crown. If you want to check out more pretty pictures and get it for yourself; check out Penny Dread’s website.
Since it’s been ridiculously humid and hot, I’ve been forgoing all the heavy makeup things, sticking to just a few products, and slathering my face in faux freckles… because that’s just what I do. FAKE FRECKLES ARE MY JAM! I wish I had freckles this intensely, naturally, that way I wouldn’t have to keep splattering their counterfeit counterparts on my face.
Typically, I tend to use 7+ different eyeshadow or eye products for a look, and it’s either a blown out, grungy eye or something colorful and intense. With the reduced amount of spoons, I have been opting for quick and easy eye looks.
For my eyes I used: Dose of Colors Set the Tone Cream Matte Eyeliner in Laid Back as a base all over the lid, Japonesque black eye pencil as a smudgy black eyeliner/wig, Kevyn Auccoin Prismagic Highlighter in Illusion for the inner corner and inside half of the lid, Milk Makeup KUSH Mascara, and MUFE Aqua XL Color Paint in M-24 for a pop of teal on the waterline.
Face Products Used: Cover FX Calming Primer mixed with Dermablend’s Flawless Creator Drops in N25 and N0 (mixed in a 3:1 ratio), Bite Beauty Multistick in Blondie, Milk Makeup Werk Lip + Cheek Color with a tiny bit of Mars powder highlight, European Body Art alcohol activated makeup for the freckles, and Becca Hydra Mist Set and Refresh Powder.
Lips: Fenty Beauty Gloss Bomb in Universal over mah nekked lips.
I need to get my act together and put a favorites post or video together for you, my dah’lings. There have been several stand out products for me this summer that I am really digging and using ALL THE TIME that I want to share. One thing at a time, though.
One of the things that I have been loving is the Kevyn Auccoin Prismagic Highlighter Palette. It’s the only thing I own from the brand, and it was hella expensive at $48 USD for three highlight/transformative pressed shades… BUT IT IS SOOOOO PRETTY and has been my go-to for inner corner pops of highlighty goodness. Also, pictures do not do these shades justice. I may do a review post on them, but for now, I hope you have a chance to check them out in real life the next time you go to Sephora.
I went out to run errands and pick up the last few supplies for the secret project after I did this makeup and several folks complimented me on my wig. I love the cut on me, and the long side pieces bring me back to the early 2000s. Ahh… all I’m missing now is some epic emo-bangs…tee hee hee.
Congrats on making it to the end of this post.
You are a winner in my book!
Also, a huge shout out to those of you who participated in the “Choose Your Own Adventure Blog Post” poll that I posted yesterday. There was a 94% win for a random life and makeup post. It was fun and I think it will become a thing for Friday blog posts. If you would like to join in the fun, don’t forget to follow me on Instagram (@ohjaechaos) and keep an eye out for polls on Thursday.
Monday’s post will be all about some schmancy Lancome products that I’ve been trying out.
What would you like to see and or read about on this little corner of the Interwebs? Any products or looks you want me to review or try out? Let me know in the comments pretty please.
In the meantime, have a kickass Friday afternoon and an epic weekend full of awesome, nerdacular adventures. I’ll see you on the flipside, dah’lings!
Don’t forget to stay positive and be awesome…
Because you ARE awesome!
