Hello. My name is Hagitha Christie. I am 243 years old and currently reside in Peabody, Massachusettes. I love long walks around the creepy woods, roasting rats on the hearth, and devouring the souls of all the little children – especially gingers as they taste the best… obviously. Only serious inquires need apply.
Hexes and kisses,
Haggie.
Enough silliness aside, today’s 13DoH2k18 character is a hag who I had WAAAAAAAAAY too much fun. The makeup took about 2.5 hours, mind you I was half paying attention to my second run-through of The Haunting of Hill House. There is a lot of shading – but all told, I only used about four main cream colors – with just a touch here or there of a few more. Also, I would like to note that there are zero prosthetic appliances applied to this look. WEWT!
This look is a general character look – somewhere between witch and hag, but she’s cute… ain’t she? I believe that you, my dah’lings, will enjoy the special blooper reel that will be going out on Halloween. Between yesterday’s fem!Rick look and this one – I was definitely having too much fun being in character.
This tutorial is by far the longest 13Doh2k18 look up until now. Who knows if there will be an even longer one coming out within the next seven days, but that is beside the point. I hope you guys don’t mind it when I have longer video tutorials. This look was definintely intense when it comes to shading and highlighting, but I wanted to include as much of the process as possible… just in case, you wanted to recreate it.
I started off the look by shading general anatomical structures and then, after those were in place, took the liberty to draw more wrinkles, divets, etc. to help give some age and texture to the character. After the face and chest were completed, I was running on fumes and not enough caffeine so I hurriedly applied a wash of color and minor speckling to my hand and arm just to make it seem a little more a part of the look – if you are doing this look for Halloween, I recommend repeating the steps that I used with the face and chest and applying them to BOTH arms.
I really liked how this look photographed with my eyes closed. The makeup looks quasi-corpselike, aka how I look when I don’t have coffee and am running on ZERO spoons.
… but my favorite part of doing looks like this is creating simple, organic NIGHTMARE FUEL.
I cannot believe that we are officially a week away from Halloween. Where has the time flown this year? I know it’s cliche, but the older I get, the quicker time seems to pass by. Have you decided what you’re wearing for Halloween yet or are you going to play it by ear and throw something together last minute?
I want these last few looks to be a little more on the spooky side of things. Some, like today’s character, are relatively heavy as far as time and skill set go – which is fine. I’ve done far more “cute” looks this year than I was intending, but it seems to me that people like “cute” Halloween characters and costumes. /le sigh.
Tomorrow’s look will be a spooky collab with one of my favorite kiwis, and I hope you are as excited about it as I am.
