October is a busy time for a witch such as she… so many potions to brew, cauldrons to manage, and children to snare. Who has the time? There aren’t enough hours – or stay awake poultices – to get everything done in time… and so, this witch is exhausted.
For the first look in my #13DoH2k19 season, I wanted to create a character that was relatable with a particular… creepy-cute vibe or mood. I say kind of relatable, and what I mean is EXTREMELY relatable. These last few months have been building to these next thirteen days, and well… this witch is EXHAUSTED. I just wish my exhausted face looked as cute (or creepy) as this little character.
I won’t let that stop me, though; this is my favorite time of year. The leaves are starting to change. A chill is in the air – who knows if it is from the wind, or a sneaky ghost whispering spooky nothings in your ear. AND the halloweenieiest of flavors comes out in droves. All hail the mighty PUMPKIN SPICE!
Leave a comment below telling me what your favorite part of this time of year is and what you’re most excited about during my #13DoH2k19!
… ps: there will be another post dropping tomorrow morning (10/20/19) possibly talking about a mystery prize pack and spooky giveaway.

— the outfit —
While I didn’t get any full-length shots of my little witchy outfit, I can tell you that it was ridiculously easy to throw together from bits and bobs I had in my closet (NOT MY COSPLAY CLOSET). Dawn a floor-length black jersey-knit dress, or maxi dress, toss on some black boots, maybe a long dangly necklace or two and top everything off with witch hat. Both the dress and the hat were finds on Amazon, and my boots were from Torrid.
… bonus points if you can find a witchy mug to walk around with. Preferably, one with a never-ending supply of the caffeinated beverage of your choice.
The wig that I chose for this look is one of my absolute favorite styles and colors from Epic Cosplay Wigs. Specifically, it’s the Helios wig in Cocao Brown (https://www.epiccosplay.com/collections/helios/products/helios-cocoa-brown-spiking-cosplay-wig), and it is a thing of beauty. I realize I called it the Hestia wig during the tutorial, whoops – let’s chalk that up to having a spoonie moment. I would have made an awesome ginger in another life. Firey copper hair suits me for some reason. /chuckles.
— THE MAKEUP —
I think rusty-orange hues scream Halloween, and I think when used properly, you can come across as very creepy instead of being a total pumpkin. Hence why I picked the Urban Decay Naked Heat Palette.
This makeup look could go for a witch, obviously, or you could rock it as a creepy ghoul, demon, fae-creature, etc… all you would need to do is possibly change up the color palette slightly and swap out a different outfit. If you were leaning more towards “undead,” switch up the Naked Heat Palette and go for something a little more cool-toned.
Also, I wanted to make something a little bit more doable or versatile with makeup rather than busting out the good ole’ SFX right off the bat. I am aiming to create some characters for this year’s festivities that don’t involve SFX makeup because I know that not everyone has or feels comfortable using special effects makeup, prosthetics, or body paints. To be honest, you probably already have the right tools in your makeup drawer for creating a spooky character or two. Matte eyeshadows are your friend for accentuating wrinkles, creating the look of scars, or changing the shape of your face.
