Over the summer, I continually saw ads for the brand Smith&Cult. Given that I am a sponge for learning about “new” brands, and I wasn’t familiar with this one. I did some research, looked up some product reviews, and was curious if they sold in Ulta or Sephora. S&C looked exciting, and the brand seemed right up my alley, almost giving me Milk Makeup vibes, and you know how much I love Milk. Then life continued to happen, and my makeup adventure thoughts went back to the back burner, yet again.
Fast forward to September, a few of the beauty channels I follow mentioned them positively, and the brand sprung back into my head. Luckily, they do sell in stores with some Ulta locations, and of course, you can purchase their products on their website- but I wanted to be able to see the product in person! I remembered that I had some Ulta points burning a hole in my pocket, and one of their palettes jumped out and spoke to me.
Only one store in my area carried S&C, so I hopped in my little beep-beep machine and took my happy self to the store. ADVENTURE TIME!
I walked in the store, did my usual lap around to see the new, shiny things from my favorite go-to brands: Urban Decay, Smashbox, Dose of Colours, etc… Finally, I made my way to a small little display of Smith and Cult (located three-quarters of the way back in the prestige section, almost by the skincare).
The items that jumped out to me were the glitter gels, blushes, and of course – the eyeshadow palettes; there were two – the berry-toned Lilac Flash palette and my favorite of the two, the Daze palette.
I didn’t want to go down the rabbit hole, and my Ulta points are precious, so I opted to dip my toes in with the Sombre’ Shift Daze Eyeshadow Palette and go from there. Not bad for $28 bucks – and thanks to my Ulta points, it was ZERO! /winner winner chicken dinner!
The Daze palette has a very easy-to-work-with color palette. Given that this palette is very earth-toned, you can easily create a dark brown smokey eye or something more daytime friendly with just a bit of sparkle. Also, the round “transforming” shade is stunning, and I’ve noticed that it is similar in formula to the Kevyn Aucoin Prismagic Highlighter shades.
Since purchasing it, I have found myself reaching for it during days when I need to put a face on and don’t have a whole lot of time to do so. It has been a perfect “Autumn” palette for me. Not that I’m at a loss for Autumn-themed palettes since that is apparently mah jam, and the whole 70s couch color vibe is something that I am a fan of…

I love, love, LOVE the combination of coppers and mossy greens. I’m a sucker for both, separately, but when their powers combine… CAPTAIN PLANET… WAIT. WHAT?! Sorry, I went down a weird 90s tangent.
Anyways… I love how this look turned out. I think I was channeling my love for sweet potato casserole and green beans with this color combination… and great, now I’m hungry. Ugh!
The matte eyeshadows are buildable, meaning that you won’t accidentally pack on more than you can easily blend out. The metallic shades are best applied with a finger or silicone tipped applicator brush. The “transformer” shade can says it can be used as a highlighter, but it is relatively glittery, so I keep it to my eye area.

Note: I am allergic to latex so I always coat my ears in several layers of prosaide anywhere they would come in contact with my skin to provide some protection and not make me break out so fast, because that’s not cute.
