I don’t know if it’s just me or not, but I am HORRIBLE at actually finding a reward from Sephora’s Rewards Bazaar that A) I have enough points for and B) can get one before they all get snagged up. Frequently I end up getting one in my cart and then they sell out before I can check out. Thankfully, for today’s adventure, I got one! That makes a whopping TWO times I’ve been able to snag something that’s more than 500 pts since the launch of that program. [Which, by the way, I have a lot of feelings about – but I should save that for another time…]
As the title of this post suggests, I was able to scoop up one of the Bite Beauty Lip Lab Exclusive 1500pt Metallic Pearl Lipstick Trios. I was hesitant at first because they only showed ONE lipstick and it’s gold that I was almost sure that I had laying around from one of their holiday mini duos AND as a prismatic pearl lip gloss but I went for it anyway because… well… reasons.
The funny thing (…or at least it was comical to me) is that I forgot that I ordered it and then a week later I found a Sephora box on my stoop. I don’t know if it was a moment of spoonie brain fog or what because I was a little baffled… and slightly got my hopes up that Sephora randomly sent me something. Alas, it was a small, square black and white polka-dotted box with three somewhat melty lipsticks inside. Melty is what happens to lipsticks in a box left OUTSIDE on the stoop in the summer heat, even though you have repeatedly told your delivery guys to stick it inside on the porch. Go figure.
Inside the box, these little lovelies were nestled in a bed of bubble wrap. I wasn’t sure what the other shades were because they only showed the golden lipstick in the product photo on Sephora’s website. I was pleasantly surprised with the peachy gold (… or rose gold) and bronze shade.
If you notice, the bullet lids have little lips all over them – which I think signifies that they’re a Lip Lab exclusive, but don’t quote me on that. I do like little details like that though.
This formula is reflective and pretty, but is also very soft and are pretty sheer on the lips. My arm swatches were built up so you could properly see the color underneath but if you look, you can still see my vein under the swatches. I couldn’t tell you if sitting out in the heat softened the formula it or not, but as I was applying them to my lips, the bullet was moving around the container almost like it wasn’t seated properly.
Like the Amouse Bouche lipsticks, this formula also has a sweet citrus smell and is jam-packed full of nourishing oils that make those of us with chronic dry lips very happy. Oh! And since the formula is very creamy, they do move around quite a bit on the lips.
These lipsticks don’t have a heavily pigmented base to them, so they would work great as lip toppers even though they’re not specifically marketed as such. If you were able to pick one of these up I don’t want you to be disappointed that they are sheer.
PEACHY-GOLD / ROSE GOLD: This shade gives me seriously throwbacks to Sugarpill’s Trinket Liquid Lipstick (the first generation of it, not the one that’s reformulated) OR Nars Orgasm blush. The peachy base is pretty sheer, but the gold reflects give a lovely little pop to the lips. I have found myself wearing this color on no makeup days just because I can. It’s a decent “your lips but better… with glitter” lip color, if that’s even a thing.
GOLD: This is very gold that leans a little green in tone. I am pretty apprehensive about this color just because I don’t have the whitest teeth and while I love golds and yellows on my eyelids… I don’t want to bring any more attention to my teeth. The flecks of gold in this color are the largest out of the three and was a little harder to remove. If you are a WoC, I think this color would look FANTASTIC on anyone that’s not my shade of ghost. I may save this one for a special character look – maybe revisit my Golden Child look, or something – but I don’t think I’ll be wearing this one out and about anytime soon. If you want to get your hands on something similar, they do have a gold Prismatic Pearl lip gloss that is a dupe for the color in lip gloss form.
BRONZE: The base of this lipstick is a cross between bronze and almost rust. It’s the most pigmented base out of the three but again, is still very sheer. This lipstick is by far the most comfortable and creamy of the trio. The mica fleck is also very tiny so you don’t feel anything on the lips. I forgot that I was wearing it after I took the swatches. Mr. Chaos wasn’t very amused that I left a lipstick print on his forehead, which is the ONLY reason that I remember that I was wearing it. Ha!
If you haven’t tried Bite Beauty’s lipstick formulas before, they are INSANELY creamy and nourishing on the lips. I have a few of the Amuse Bouche lipsticks, and they are grand. I am also a very big fan of their lip pencils and their Multisticks… and their agave lip masks.
I decided to show you guys these lips swatches WITHOUT any foundation or concealer around my lips. BEHOLD MY ACTUAL SKIN AND ALL IT’S QUIRKS. MUWAH HA HA HA HA! I find that sometimes foundations can get under the lipstick giving the illusion that it is lighter or more pigmented than it is… plus I’m not the steadiest lip swatches out there, so It also saves me time. This also means that the lipstick may look different on your lips depending on your natural lip color, lip liner, etc.
Anywho, thus concludes this little review for you, my lovely dah’lings! I’m sorry I’ve been so absent on this silly little corner of the internet. I have tons of backlogged posts that I’m going to spend this afternoon finishing up and scheduling so please stay tuned for more reviews, tutorials, and randomness that will be appearing shortly. I’m also going to go ahead and apologize to any of who you are subscribed to the blog and get the email notifications… they may swarm in your inbox over the next few days.
What have you guys scored from the Sephora Rewards Bazaar lately? Let me know in the comments!
