If there is one color that I don’t feel comfortable slathering all over my eyelid… it’s blue. Something about it makes me feel like I look like Mimi from The Drew Carrey Show… and sometimes I do, however – I guess this time it seemed alright. You be the judge.
Before I jump into the details of this look, I would like to talk about the wig that I am wearing. I have had my eye on this wig for MONTHS. It is the Yellow 12″ Hologram wig from Rockstar Wigs. If you follow me on social media, chances are you’ve seen me rocking Rockstar Wigs for various looks. They are in the top three of my favorite indie wig brands, the other two being Epic Cosplay Wigs and Penny Dreads.
The majority of my wigs from Rockstar Wigs are either the Boy Cut short series or more recently their Rhapsody wigs. I’ve had my eye on the Hologram 12″ wigs because they are a similar style as the Boy Cut series, but fuller. The wefting in the Hologram line are hefty, and the wigs have a nice weight and fullness to them – much to my surprise. I do need to do a little styling to this wig as the fringe is hella long and I prefer wigs that turn outward instead of inward curls if that makes sense.
This look was my first time using my Danessa Myrick Beauty Colorfix in Firework (an intense metallic blue). Mine is unfortunately in the old vacuum pump packaging and frequently clogged up which is highly annoying. The new packing is a squeezy tube – making things a lot easier for dispensing and getting just enough to do the job. I think their Color Fix formula is brilliant – even better than one of my other favorites, the Aqua XL Paint from MUFE — make sure you are getting it in the updated packaging or be prepared to spend time unclogging the nozzle.
Another note about the color Firework… and that is, it stains like CRAZY! The color is very pigmented, and my silly little self made the silly decision NOT to put down an extra primer… joke’s on me I guess. My point is – please wear some eye primer or base before applying this color to your eyelids and save yourself the lovely blue tint for days after. Oh… and please pardon my very bloodshot eyes – it’s annoying, but I do try to dull down the redness via Lightroom. (PS: would you be interested in a walkthrough of how I edit my photos?)
This look is very eye heavy, and I wanted all of the focus to go onto the eyes and the hair so if you wanted to wear this and have it be a bit more balanced feel free to wear a bolder lip color instead of the nude-highlight thing that I’ve got going on. I didn’t use any lip color, just whatever foundation/concealer was on my lips from my foundation and then TONS of highlighter (which by the way is MUFE’s Pro Light Fusion Highlighter in Golden Pink.
By the way, be on the lookout next week for a full review and swatch fest for the Dose of Colors Block Party shadows… at least the eight that I own. They are pretty darn neat, but I do have some thoughts.

This look would probably fall into the ‘editorial’ box when it comes to makeup just because it’s feature focused with fairly clean skin. I love to do editorial-esque makeup because it lets me play with color however and wherever I choose.
Whelp, that’s it for now. I hope you like these little in-depth blog posts featuring looks that I’ve done – but with more pretty pictures and random asides. I’m trying to get back into the swing of things as far as blogging goes so, for now, the plan is to have new posts every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. What sorts of blog posts would you like to see? Please let me know in the comments – pretty please…
