I love to cosplay and show off my favorite fandoms but sometimes being in a full get-up isn’t socially appropriate for everyday life… now enter everyday cosplay. What is it, you ask?!? Well let me tell you…
Everyday Cosplay is a way to rock your fandoms, favorite characters, etc on a day-to-day basis. In fact, I’m going to start a series detailing how I rock the cosplay everyday (maybe not everyday, but at least some of my favorites). Alas, everyday cosplay apparently isn’t a new thing – and I was both sad and happy when I googled it only to find that more people out there have done the same thing. There I was thinking that I was a cool kid… LOL!
…anyways… I was feeling kinda down the other day so I decided to pretty my self up – even if I wasn’t going anywhere… so I did and I ended up channeling Merida. Woo hoo!
What came to pass was what I like to call American Merida – A’merida. (Ridiculous, I know). Think of it as Merida who grew up now-a-days in the US. She still rocks the bow and likes to hunt – thus the camo shirt – from Wet Seal. I couldn’t find my Tree of Life necklace – so I went to the next logical option: my Bat’leth necklace from Geek Star Costuming A) because it’s a weapon and B) because it kinda looks like a bow.
FACE: Makeup Forever Ultra HD Stick foundation in Y225 and HD Setting Powder, Urban Decay Naked Concealer in Light, Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics cream color in John Doe, Sephora cream blush in Coral Flush, Loreal Precious Peach Blush, Nyx True Taupe eyeshadow, and Kat Von D Beauty Metal Crush Eyeshadow in Thunderstruck
EYES: Colourpop Cosmetics super shock shadow in Rebel as base, Urban Decay Moondust Shadow in Vortex and eyeshadow in Sideline, 24/7 velvet pencil in Cult, Sugarpill Charmy loose shadow in the crease, Makeup Forever Aqua seal mixed with Sugarpill’s Penelope loose shadow, and KVD’s Ink Liner in Hemingway. Lashes topped with Benefit Roller Lash Mascara. Brows are Anastasia Beverly Hills dip brow in Auburn and Dark Brown with some clear brow gel to set.
LIPS: Jeffree Star Cosmetics Celebrity Skin mixed with Kat Von D’s Bow and Arrow.
WIG: Merida from Lush Wigs (formerly Geisha Wigs), I found it on Aliexpress.com and searched for “Merida” wig since I wasn’t lucky enough to snag it while GW was still in business and Lush Wigs hasn’t reopened yet.
CONTACTS: Pinky Paradise “Dolly Eye Green” circle lenses. I figured I should match the green of my eyes to the green on the camo. Merida has aqua blue eyes and wears a blue dress – so I guess it makes sense.
So, those are the deets for this round. I think next time I channel Merida, I will go classic with a dark Aqua shirt, brown leather belt, and some of my Celtic jewelry when I can find it… as well as my aqua blue circle lenses. That way I will be a bit truer to her since she is a kick ass, warrior princess.

My daughter cannot say Merida. She has always pronounced it Uh-merida. So this is too adorably spot on.
