Forest green, olive green, sage green, super green… ALL THE GREENS. I adore the way green eye makeup looks on brown eyes. It also should come as a surprise, but I love wearing olive/forest green tones, clothes, etc. on me as well. It makes me happy, and I feel that it compliments my sometimes sickly undertones AND my pasty paleness.
For this look, I wanted to play with texture and tones all the while keeping things simple by not using ALL THE PRODUCTS that are in my makeup drawers. It was textured, imperfect, and intentionally supposed to look worn in. I think it turned out pretty cool.
I only used THREE products on my eyelids: Danessa Myricks Beauty Secret Garden ColorFix, Lit Cosmetics Glisten + Silver Flake Lit Metals, and a little Kevyn Aucoin Prismagic Highlighter in the shade Enchanted right in the inner corner to give a little more light. For the application, I only used a rounded lip brush and started at both ends of the eye stopping around the center on both sides to give a painterly look. It occurred to me afterward that the outside “wing” looks a little (bird/angel) wing-ish. C’est la vie.
To get that intentional worn-in look, I applied the Secret Garden Color Fix first, one eye at a time and scrunched up my eyes, blinking several times to let it settle and work away in certain places. Once that was dried down I then went in with the Lit Metals and strategically swiped that over areas that were more barren, mainly around the center of the lid. Shadows and highlights, dah’lings. Shadows and highlights. Lastly, I ran some Japonesque black eye pencil on the tightline and waterline and topped the lashes off with some of Milk Makeup’s KUSH mascara.
You may notice that several of the photos are lit differently. That’s because I was in a rut and wanted to fiddle around with my lighting set up to achieve a more moody look to the look. Heh.
The rest of the makeup is reasonably natural and light. For the complexion, I used Dermablend’s Flawless Creator Drops in N20 mixed with CoverFX’s Calming Primer to sheer things out a bit. The warmth to the cheeks is Bite Beauty’s Multistick in Blondie, and of course – faux freckles by using European Body Art’s alcohol activated makeup (AAM) in Clay and Mud. My skin was pretty dewy, so I mattified select areas with Becca’s Hydra Mist powder… but not too much. \
My brows were finished off by using Milk Makeup’s KUSH Brow Gel in Grind and their Gel Brow pencil in Dark Brew.
The lips were achieved by taking Blondie as a base – softening around the edges of the lips with my finger, for that plumpy effect, and then highlighting the center with a mix of my Bite Beauty Lip Lab Custom Lipstick Transformer in Gold and a TINY bit of Lit Metals’ Glisten + Silver Flake. PRO TIP: If you don’t want to eat glitter all day, keep the glitter to the highest arch of the cupids bow and the bottom half of the bottom lip.
If you are curious about my other accessories; my wig is from Pose Wigs in LLMER10 (*their naming system is a little odd), the steampunk ears headband is from Hot Topic, and my top is from some random clothing brand on Amazon – I’ll link it here. I like the tunic because it’s hooded, has thumb holes, a kangaroo pocket and is asymmetrical – even though you can’t see anything below my shoulders in my post. It’s also pretty flowy, and I am jonesing to wear it all the time in a few months. COME ON FALL!
Speaking of Autumn… Halloween is quickly approaching – thank the pumpkin king. I am trying to knock out as many makeup looks as I can for my 13 Days of Halloween this year. I am hoping to get all the looks shot/filmed in September that way I can finish off editing the tutorials in the first part of October. If you have ANY suggestions for tutorials or Halloween-ish creatures you’d like me to create – leave a comment below or hit me up on social media.
Last year was a bust for me for Halloween as we were in the middle of buying/selling our house. This year will be loads better – I prombis.
With all of that, if my IG seems a little less active, it’s because I’m doing a ton of behind the scenes goodies. I will be continuing to post here on the blog MWF-ish. I’ve received a few awesome goodies in PR and can’t wait to tell you about them in the coming weeks. MUWAH HA HA HA HA.
