There are just some days where you need to listen to Daft Punk and get things done. Yesterday was one of those days. For my ‘reward’ I decided to rock my claws with these amazing nerdy nail wraps from Espionage Cosmetics in the style “Light Cycle.” As an added bonus, I decided to watch Tron: Legacy while I was doing my quick manicure. There’s nothing like some CGI Jeff Bridges to end your day…
These wraps are just one of the designs that EC came up with during their last Kickstarter and are inspired by, you guessed it, TRON. Other than the kickass design, these wraps also have a secret superpower… THEY GLOW IN THE DARK! I think its awesome. If you didn’t get a chance to jump on the bandwagon during their Kickstarter, these wraps plus all the other new designs will be posted to their store on April 1st and retail for $10.
The loverly crew at Espionage Cosmetics have made it super easy for me to rock my nerd-cred on my claws. I am seriously lacking in the ‘nail art skills’ department. Makeup and I are super BFFs, but when it comes to my nails…the talent goes down the toilet. The wraps take about 10 minutes to ‘install’ and they last for at least 2 weeks (…unless you are like me and manage to occasionally pick mine off in my sleep. Ugh!). All you need is a nail file, a set of NailedIt Nerdy Nail Wraps, and the top coat of your choice. I am planning on doing a tutorial next time I swap out my nail wraps. If you can’t wait that long, the lovely EC Makeup Misfits filmed a tutorial on how to apply them and it’s extremely easy!
Speaking of nails, do any of you other Spoonies out there have bad nails. Mine are ridiculous. They take forever to grow, when they do grow they are brittle and dimpled. And before you suggest it, I do use a nourishing nail quick coat and take lots of vitamins… If you have any other tips and tricks, let me know in the comments. Us Spoonies gotta stick together!
For the rest of the movie, since doing my nails got me to just past the ‘jumping off the building’ scene, I decided to come up with a look that was both inspired by the movie and my awesome wraps… so this happened.
Elements of this look were combined from both Cora and Gem with a little bit of @dominiqueldr thrown in. I haven’t done a creative look in several weeks so I wasn’t really at the top of my game. I liked how it turned out but I also see a lot of things that I could have improved on. Oh… and my eyebrows just kept getting bigger and bigger – so I went with it.

I normally go a little heavier on the foundation but I wasn’t feeling like cakin’ it up on my face tonight so I applied a light coverage of the foundation. By the end of the makeup process my spoons were terrible and I was starting to get shaky, go figure.
I am planning on coming up with two or more looks to compliment these nail wraps including maybe even a wearable one. What are your thoughts on this one? We like?
In other news, we had our first spring thunderstorm of the year… complete with a little tornado that was about 4 miles north of us. Welcome to springtime in Tornado Alley. The lightning may or may not have influenced my nail wrap choice… I am a sucker for a good thunderstorm.
TRY THIS: Next time there is a thunderstorm in your area that has a lot of lightning or if you are driving and there is one in the distance… put on some techno music. This was a thing I used to do in high school when we were comeback from football games on the band bus. The quick, aggregated beats of the techno will seem to line up with lightning strikes. The result is an awesome music and light show. I suggest some Crystal Method, Daft Punk, or BT to start. If you give it a try – let me know how it turns out.
Other than that, I am currently trying to get my new, schmancy ring light exchanged for a new one. I’m not going to drop any names until I have time to do a proper review… but for now let us just say that I am so frakking antsy to be able to shoot with the new light. I have been saving up money for months now and having to replace it in less than 24 hours of opening it up makes me sad. What does this mean for you guys? Well, for starters I can take start taking the baby steps to film makeup tutorials for the Tubes of the You. It will also help me consolidate the space in my office so I can do more things in there.
Oh! And I will have a Sephora Haul for you in the next few days too! It will be a mega haul from a few trips but still, get excited!!! If you haven’t read my first impression / review of Sephora’s Honey Mask, it’s the post right before this one.
Speaking of blog posts, what sorts of posts would you like to see more of on here? I know that this blog doesn’t have a whole lot going for it right now but I am trying to stay busy and blogging is one of the ways I can do so. Leave a comment with a suggestion and I will see what I can do! [I am not sure who all reads these silly posts, so I may just be writing to the universe’s brick wall… hopefully not though. Don’t be shy, dearest reader! I promise I don’t bite………….. hard.]
As always: Be awesome, Dah’lings!!!!!
