A festive St. Patrick’s Day to you, my Dah’lings! I hope you are having a wondrous weekend and aren’t getting yourselves into too much trouble.
My little world has been a bit CHAOTIC the last few weeks and I haven’t been able to put as much content, video-wise, out there as I’d like. So, this morning, I got up early, found some caffeination, and caked my face with this subtle and demure makeup look… and recorded a little CCGRWM for you in the process. Usually, I prefer to record voice-over tutorials, but for the sake of time and minimal editing (see: bashing my head against a keyboard because editing takes FOREVER with my dinosaur of a computer), I opted to go the route of a talk thru video.
I didn’t have a set-out plan as far as what I wanted to do, look-wise, when I sat down this morning… only that it should involve a FRAKton of green, with a tiny bit of glitter. I haven’t played with my Dawn Eye Cosmetics Premium multi-chrome eyeshadows in a minute and owned two of their green shades, so I built on from there. Keep in mind, these and other multi-chrome eyeshadows and pigments do best over a black base since most are made in such a way that their base aren’t very pigmented.
As you can see from the picture below, the shift of the multi-chrome eyeshadows are subtle and it’s best when viewed in indirect/shifting light – and not head on, which is the trouble when you’re filming with a ring light. I have other colors, like DEC’s Mysterious that shift a lot more than these two, but I think this look turned out cool enough.
One of these days I will get a review together of my (limited) collection of the Dawn Eye Cosmetics Premium multi-chromatic eyeshadows, but until then … hold on to your butts.
I realize that this look is… rather stark, and probably not up everyone’s alley – which is perfectly fine. If you want to tone this down to a more wearable look, just shrink the size of the graphic wing-thing to just around the mobile lid area and slightly smoke out the lower lash line with a warm brown. I figured since today WAS the greenest of green holidays, I might as well go big or go home.

All-in-all, I love how this look turned out… even though I used glitter in my inner corner (I have a love/hate relationship with glitter). I think if I ever do this shape of graphic liner/wing again – I’ll try something different on the inner, lower lash line as it looks a little out of place
The reception of this look while I was out and about running errands while my video rendered was mixed, but more of them were positive than negative, so that’s awesome! One little boy thought I looked like an anime character, which is a pretty awesome compliment if you ask me. Oh, and a big s
Before I end today’s little post, I wanted to share this “And Now This…” segment from John Oliver’s Last Week Tonight… because it’s relevant and hilarious – and exactly the reason why you should never say “TOP OF THE MORNING TO YOU”, on St. Patrick’s Day … or any other day for that matter (unless you’re Irish).
Also, if you are up to some St. Patty’s Day shenanigans today – please be careful, make smart decisions, and drink LOTS of water. I may not approve of the historical significance of this holiday because, for the most part, I think people should live and let live, but if there’s a holiday where I can pack on the green – I WILL. #supergreen (he he he).
Leave a comment below and tell me what all adventures you got up to today!
