Let’s review perfume, shall we? On this installment of “WHAT DID INFLUENSTER SEND ME TO REVIEW THIS TIME” we are talking all about the new drugstore fragrance from Katy Perry — INDI! /dun dun dahhhhh!
This will be the second fragrance I’ve had the opportunity to review via Influenster – the first being Georgio Armani Si, which I never got around to writing a blog post about – but it’s a schmancy vanilla-ish spicy perfume that comes in pretty packaging with a hefty price tag. I wear it for extraordinary occasions as to not waste it.
My daily choice for fragrance either bounces between Aromatherapy’s Energy Body Spray, Pacifica’s Blood Orange, or CLEAN’s Rain perfume… and it’s a toss-up depending on my mood. I do not go in for floral fragrances as that is one of the quickest ways to trigger a migraine and those are no bueno, but I’m getting off topic, back to INDI…

What distinguishes us from each other is also the one thing we all have in common: our uniqueness. Rather than hiding our true selves, it’s time to celebrate our diversity and put the U back in individual with Katy Perry’s Indi. Katy Perry’s Indi is a one-of-a-kind seductive musk fragrance that elevates the senses. It is artfully crafted with eleven different musks that blend beautifully with top notes of white tea, Italian bergamot and white cedarwood. The fragrance is as unique as you are. Indulge and celebrate your individuality and strength.
Top notes are white tea, plum, and bergamot; middle notes are cyclamen, lily-of-the-valley and white cedar extract; base notes are amber, tonka bean, musk, white musk, black musk, Egyptian musk, and island musk.
It’s always weird getting sent a scent – i.e. perfume, fragrance, or cologne – to review. Scents are something that I find to be unique to the person. It’s not just what’s in the bottle. It’s how that blend of musks, essential oils, etc. interact with your skin and body chemistry.
Add to that that some scents bother those wearing it or those who are near those wearing the perfume. I’m sensitive to certain smells. I can’t do floral – especially intense floral fragrances with large rose or geranium notes. If any perfume or fragrance is too strong, it’s a sure fire way to give me a headache – or even a migraine. Not fun at all.
Enter this perfume.
PACKAGING:
The perfume bottle is contained in your standard cardboard container. There is a “security” bit of plastic wrapped around the box to prove that it hasn’t been tampered with. Also, KPF is owned by Coty, Inc – which owns Covergirl, Marc Jacob Fragrance, Tiffany and Co., Miu Miu, etc. To my
Note that this perfume is sold at Walgreens, so I wasn’t expecting such a beautiful and solid bottle. The bottle itself is almost milk glass like with two embossed sides with “Put the U in Individual” and the “Katy Perry’s INDI” branding on the front.
The cap is a similar concept, only black, and the embossing is “KPI” for Katy Perry’s Indi, or so I would assume. It is a little tough to remove, but I guess that’s a good thing – especially if you’re traveling – that way it doesn’t accidentally spill or something.
The nozzle/top is yellow-gold colored metal. The nozzle dispenses an even mist of spray.
THOUGHTS:
I like how this fragrance is marketed as an androgynous scent rather than something overly gendered. I think more brands should shift towards a more gender-inclusive product line rather than stricter “for him” or “for her” fragrances.
The container’s design is right up my alley as I am a sucker for modern minimalist stuff. The price point for the quality of the packaging is an excellent deal as well.
The fragrance is reminiscent of Tom Ford’s Black Orchid and maybe even Gorgio Armani’s Si perfume, but it’s not something that I tend to be pulled toward. The cedarwood notes are reasonably forward, and I don’t get much of the bergamot or white tea (both of which I love, just look at my candle collection). I also get a heavy vanilla note even though it’s not listed on the fragrance list … so I don’t know if my nose is a secret Super Sniffer or it’s straight up broken. Ha.
Unfortunately, over the course of the last two months that I’ve had it — it gives me a headache when I wear it. I have worn it about eight times – always a few days apart from each time I wear it to try and make sure that it was the headache culprit – and yeah… it gives me a headache and that sucks.
FYI: I will pass this along to one of my family members or friends, as I don’t want it to go to waste. Whenever I get products that I either can’t use or products that don’t work well on me – I always pass them along to family and friends, or if they pass on it, I donate it to our local women’s shelters.
Have you tried this perfume? If so, did you enjoy it? I want to know what scents you enjoy wearing – so tell me all about it in the comments below. While you are there go ahead and tell me something random that you think is awesome.
PS: There may be a favorites video and blog post going up tomorrow. Such excitement. Much wow.
